Thousands will participate in the Urban Cow Half Marathon on Sunday in downtown, prompting road closures.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The 21st annual Urban Cow Half Marathon takes place on Sunday, drawing thousands of runners and walkers to the downtown area.
While spectators cheer on friends and family as they put their bodies to the test, event organizers are warning people in the area to be aware of several road closures during the race.
Here is what people need to know about the half-marathon:
When
The race is scheduled to go from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Where
The race will start and finish at William Land Park. During the 13.1-mile trek, runners will traverse the Land Park area, then proceed onto Broadway to Front Street and run up to DOCO, crossing into Old Sacramento before looping back down the American River Bike Trail to the finish line.
Race Map/ Road Closures
Race organizers have issued travel advisories for the affected neighborhoods. Organizers said roads will begin to reopen as soon as the last runner passes through the area.
