According to the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office, Gevock was convicted of one lewd and lascivious act involving a child under 14-years-old with force, and one count of continuous sexual abuse of a minor.
SJCDA said that since both counts are classified as “super strikes,” this requires Gevock to register as a sex offender for life.
DA Ron Freitas said, “The San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office remains dedicated to advocating for victims and ensuring that those who commit such egregious crimes face severe consequences.
An investigation by the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office showed that Gevock started raping an immediate family member shortly after his release from federal prison, where he had served time for child pornography offenses.
“Our prosecutors fight so tirelessly every day to protect the most vulnerable among us, especially children. This 24-year sentence reflects our duty to securing justice for victims and holding predators accountable for their despicable actions. We will continue to pursue the maximum penalties to ensure our community is safe,” Freitas said.
