(FOX40.COM) — The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office is searching for answers to a 1994 cold case of a dismembered woman.
CCSO said Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office deputies found a pair of hands in a garbage bag on the shore of New Melones Reservoir on Oct. 4, 1994.

Two months later, on Dec. 13, 1994, CCSO deputies then recovered a nude, headless and handless female body about six miles from the Reservoir.
According to the sheriff’s office, the victim was identified as 23-year-old Sharalyn Murphy, who was originally from Washington but moved to Sacramento in 1993.
Deputies said the remainder of her body has never been recovered.
