Clouds continue to build Wednesday afternoon and evening. By tonight, low pressure will nudge closer and bring an increasing chance for rain along the South Coast, Cape and Islands, with spotty showers possible for Boston, MetroWest, and central Massachusetts.
Rain coverage will be highest between 3 and 7 a.m. Thursday. Rain chances taper off by mid morning, with clearing skies from west to east by the afternoon. Highs climb into the upper 70s to near 80, while eastern areas stay in the mid to upper 70s.
Friday brings another warm and dry day, but a cold front moves through by evening and sets the stage for a cooler weekend. Highs still reach the upper 70s Friday before much more autumn-like air settles in Friday night.
Saturday will feel crisp, with highs in the upper 60s and lows dipping into the 40s and even the upper 30s in some inland spots under clear skies Sunday morning.
By early next week, southerly flow returns, allowing temperatures to rebound, and some areas may even push back toward 80 by Tuesday.
