DENVER (KDVR) — An annual networking event for veterans is returning for its 12th year at the Lakewood Elks Lodge #1777 on Thursday, Sept. 25.

The event, known as the West Metro Veterans Fair, will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will provide veterans with the “unique opportunity” to network with 50 organizations that “provide support and services tailored to their needs,” the city of Lakewood said Tuesday.

“This event reflects our unwavering dedication to ensuring those who have served are connected with the resources and recognition they deserve,” said Chris Hoeh, a United States Army veteran and sergeant with the Lakewood Police Department who is serving as the master of ceremonies for the event, in a statement.

The city said participating organizations will offer a comprehensive array of benefits and information for veterans and their families to explore, including benefits consultation, counseling services, employment opportunities, health care options and housing assistance.

Specialized support kits will also be available for veterans who are experiencing homelessness, the city said.

Veterans enrolled with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs can receive a flu shot during the event, according to the city, which said veterans who would like to enroll with the VA can do so by providing a DD-214, if eligible.

A complimentary barbecue lunch will be provided during the event, the city said. The Lakewood Elks Lodge #1777 is located at 1455 Newland St. in Lakewood.
