SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Springfield Armory hosted a community-wide event on Saturday to commemorate the American Revolution, offering residents a glimpse into local history.
The event featured historical reenactments with volunteers dressed in period-accurate attire, showcasing the role Springfield played during the Revolutionary War. The Massachusetts National Guard also conducted a helicopter demonstration as part of the day’s activities.
“I definitely enjoy every minute of it,” said Kelly Fellner, superintendent of the Springfield Armory. “I’m also enjoying seeing our rangers engage with the public and have a wonderful day here, bringing this history to life.”
The Springfield Armory is open to the public Wednesday through Sunday, allowing visitors to explore its historical significance beyond today’s event.
