The Netherlands has been grossing back in recent years. A number of coffee shops now source the products from legal growers in the Netherlands. Part of the politics – especially the Christian parties and certainly also that of Saint Bontenbal, who was canonized during his lifetime – is very concerned with declaring it a failure.
Meanwhile, there are numerous states where the government leaves smokers and growers alone. Uruguay was the first country to legalize cannabis. The same applies to a number of Canadian provinces. Malta has also legalized and there are more examples such as the American state of Colorado.
That experiment is nonsense. Silly. Deer is a politically motivated delaying tactic to postpone unavoidable legalization for as long as possible.
In other countries, which are ahead of us in the field of drug use, sufficient experience has been gained. Legalization of cannabis cultivation and use can start tomorrow. It would be unwise to continue banning imports from well-known production countries such as Morocco. After all, it is about decriminalizing the trade in a stimulant.
Humanity – perhaps you should extend this to living beings – is inclined to become addicted to stimulants that involve withdrawal symptoms. In 4000 B.C. Opium was already grown in Mesopotamia. The Romans presented hemp cookies to increase the celebration. The first turns of alcohol date back eight thousand years. The use of addictive stimulants is apparently impossible to eradicate. You can try to control use. For example, in 2200 BC, a Chinese emperor came up with the idea of levying excise duty on wine.
In light of this past, it is crystal clear that the war on drugs a hopeless thing is. The cartels triumph everywhere. And in that context they do not hesitate to disrupt entire states. This process is also underway in the Netherlands despite the martial language of politicians.
Legalize stimulants. Tax it and spend the proceeds on addiction care.
