This is Erika Kirk’s first address after Charlie Kirk’s murder in Utah on Wednesday.

PHOENIX — Erika Kirk, the widow of political activist Charlie Kirk, spoke for the first time Friday since her husband’s assassination. She stood next to an empty chair where Charlie Kirk usually sat while broadcasting his show.

She began her speech with a prayer and then thanked the staffers at Charlie Kirk’s show, law enforcement, and first responders. She also had a message for the suspect in the murder.

“The evildoers responsible for my husband’s assassination have no idea what they have done.” Erika Kirk said. “If you thought that my husband’s mission was powerful before, you have no idea. You have no idea what you have just unleashed across this entire country.”

Erika Kirk and Charlie Kirk married in 2021 in Scottsdale. Erika Kirk’s address came after the arrest of a 22-year-old Utah man, Tyler Robinson, who was booked on murder charges in the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

“Two days ago, my husband, Charlie, went to see the face of his savior, of his God. Charlie always said that when he was gone, he wanted to be remembered for his courage and his faith,” Erika Kirk said.

“Now and for all eternity, he will stand at his savior’s side wearing the glorious crown of a martyr.”

Erika Kirk said the college tour that Charlie Kirk was on when he was killed will go on and AmericaFest in Phoenix will continue and will be ‘greater than ever’.

“The movement my husband built will not die. I refuse to let that happen,” Erika Kirk said.

Utah man arrested

Tyler Robinson had become “more political” in the run-up to the shooting and mentioned during a dinner with family that Kirk would be visiting Utah, Gov. Spencer Cox said at a news conference. The governor cited as evidence engravings on bullet casings found in the rifle that authorities believe was used in the attack, as well as chat app messages attributed to the suspect that a roommate shared with law enforcement.

The governor credited Robinson’s family with helping turn him over to authorities.

“Ladies and gentlemen, we got him,” Cox said soon after the arrest was first heralded by President Donald Trump on the Fox News show “Fox & Friends.”

This is a developing story. New details will be added shortly.
