During a recent struggle to buy a pair of jeans that I didn’t hate, I came across a blast from the past: the Gap Long and Lean Jeans.
These were my go-tos from roughly 2002 to 2005. Surely, I thought, they wouldn’t be as flattering on my 40-year-old body as they were on my 19-year-old self, but I was willing to give them a try. I am delighted to report that they were absolutely fantastic.
Yes, I bought them in a short inseam because there’s no way I’m wearing them with heels, but the fit is still wonderful. When I saw they came in a work-appropriate twill version, I was thrilled.
Yes, they are a slightly lower rise than what I would typically wear, but no, they’re not so low that I’m scared to bend over in them like I was in 2002. Add a blouse and a sweater blazer for a business casual look.
