4 teens charged in deadly Seat Pleasant police pursuit

Thirty-five-year-old Shaunte Denise Canty was killed when a vehicle hit her car near the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Highway and Sheriff Road on Aug. 26.

SEAT PLEASANT, Md. — Four youths have been charged in connection with a deadly police chase in Seat Pleasant.

Seat Pleasant Police say they won’t release the identities of the suspects, noting all four were juveniles.

All four face charges including:

  • Motor vehicle — unlawful taking
  • Unauthorized use of motor vehicle
  • Theft over $25,000

Thirty-five-year-old Shaunte Denise Canty was killed when a vehicle struck her car near the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Highway and Sheriff Road on Aug. 26.

Police acknowledged that they were following the suspects, who were in a stolen vehicle.

A child who was in the vehicle with Canty survived the crash, police say.

Seat Pleasant Police are still investigating the incident.
