Town of Cary employee charged with DWI, leaving scene of a crash

A town of Cary employee faces multiple charges after a Wednesday crash.

Matthew Flynn, 58, of Raleigh, was charged with driving while impaired and two counts of leaving the scene of a crash with property damage on North Hills Drive.

According to arrest warrants, Flynn did not provide the other driver with his name or contact information and left the scene of the crash, which caused damage to the other vehicle’s fender. The crash also caused damage to Duke Energy wires, according to warrants.

Court documents state he took a breath test, which registered 0.19.

The town of Cary confirmed to WRAL News that Flynn works as the town’s director of public works. Flynn has been placed on non-disciplinary administrative suspension, according to the town.

A first court appearance is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.
