Fort Edward cat shot in the leg finds 'furever' home

FORT EDWARD, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A cat that was facing the possibility of euthanasia in July has moved into its forever home. Brewster the tuxedo cat was adopted after he was found in Fort Edward with a gunshot wound to his leg.

The resident who found Brewster’s lowest point thought he’d been hit by a car, but x-rays taken by the North Shore Animal League America’s Adirondack Region Cat Adoption Center in Glens Falls showed his leg was shattered from a gunshot wound. Brewster was then transferred to the cat adoption center’s Long Island headquarters for his injuries to be reviewed.

Veterinarians were unsure if Brewster would need his leg amputated, and began reaching out to online followers to help contribute to his recovery. In the middle of July, Brewster had a metal rod inserted into the bone that was fractured into multiple pieces, saving his leg.

Once he was recovering in foster care, Brewster started to show his playful, curious, and mischievous character. It wasn’t long after being cleared for adoption that Brewster was on his way to his forever home with North Shore Animal League America’s gift planning manager, Lorri Stamile.
