SHREWSBURY, Mass. (WWLP) – A 57-year-old man was shot and killed in Shrewsbury on Thursday morning after dropping off his child at school.
NBC Boston states that the victim was walking home when he confronted a man spray painting a bridge, took a photo, and called the police as the situation escalated.
When police arrived, the suspect had run away, and the victim was found shot multiple times. He was brought to the hospital, where he later died.
The situation caused a temporary lockdown of the area while police searched for the shooter. The suspect later surrendered to police after a standoff and is set to appear in court on Friday.
Once the suspect was in custody, the lockdowns were lifted and the streets reopened.
The tragic incident has left the community in shock as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
