BWC: Mich. officer uses cruiser to pin motorcycle before arrest of fleeing suspect

GRAND BLANC TOWNSHIP, Mich – A 37-year-old Fenton man was arrested after leading police on a chase reaching speeds of more than 100 miles per hour in Grand Blanc Township.

What began as an attempt to pull a motorcyclist over for a speeding civil infraction escalated, resulting in the man’s arrest on 11 felony charges.

The chase took place around 8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 17 , police said.

After jumping off his motorcycle, the motorcyclist led police on a foot chase.

A video of the arrest was shared by the Grand Blanc Township Police Department .

Police recovered a firearm and methamphetamine the fleeing man had attempted to discard during the foot chase.

“Let’s be clear: there is no law stopping police in Michigan from pursuing vehicles or motorcycles. While some agencies choose to restrict pursuits, the Grand Blanc Township Police Department isn’t in the business of giving criminals a free pass,” the department wrote.

MLive isn’t releasing the man’s name until he is arraigned on charges in the Genesee District Court.

Grand Blanc Township police sought the following charges: second offense of possession of controlled substances, third degree fleeing a police officer, resisting/obstructing a police officer, carrying a concealed weapon and six other weapons charges.
