The man had originally traveled to California with a friend but was abandoned and left with no support. Without local ties, minimal resources, and minimal resources, the man eventually landed in Woodland, according to the Woodland Police Department.
While he was able to secure a plane ticket to return home, where he had access to family and supportive services, he had no transportation to the airport, putting him at risk of becoming indefinitely stranded, WPD said.
HOST was able to coordinate assistance and successfully united the man with his family and support system in Michigan, avoiding potential long-term homelessness in Woodland, WPD said.
