(KRON) — A longtime restaurant in San Francisco’s Financial District has closed this week. In a letter to customers, Tlaloc Sabor Mexicano cited “rising costs” as a reason.
The Mexican restaurant, located at 525 Commercial St., shuts down after being in business for nearly 25 years, according to Tlaloc Sabor Mexicano’s website. It opened in 2001.
Despite the closure, Tlaloc Sabor Mexicano already has plans to reopen elsewhere, although the business has not announced where. While they wait, customers are directed to sister restaurant Cancun Sabor Mexicano in Berkeley.
SF Giants ranked first in this category — but not a baseball stat
Our San Francisco location will be closing this week as of 08/18/2025 due to rising costs. We are already planning a relocation and look forward to welcoming you to a new space soon. In the meantime, you can continue enjoying all your favorite dishes through our sister restaurant, Cancun Sabor Mexicano in Berkeley. We will also continue offering catering, same food, same flavors, just a different kitchen.
