Gregory Groom, 23, is charged with aggravated assault and battery on a pregnant person against Kylee Monteiro, who went missing Aug. 7.
A Rehoboth man was arrested in connection with a missing pregnant 18-year-old, prosecutors said Tuesday.
“I’m scared, I’m really scared,” Faith Monteiro told WCVB, referring to her sister, Kylee Monteiro. “I don’t know if they have her, but some part of me feels like they do.”
Gregory Groom, 22, is charged with aggravated assault and battery on a pregnant person and domestic assault and battery. He allegedly committed those offenses against Kylee Monteiro on Aug. 6, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn said in a press release.
Monteiro went missing Aug. 7.
She was last seen in Rehoboth at her boyfriend’s house, and there were domestic issues involved, sister Kitty Monteiro posted on Facebook. She was around three months pregnant when she went missing, family members have said.
Police have not confirmed the connection between Groom and Monteiro, but Monteiro’s family says Groom is her boyfriend, WCVB reported.
Groom is being held without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Taunton District Court, according to the DA.
Faith Monteiro told a NBC10 WJAR reporter on Rehoboth’s County Street that it appeared police were raiding a house there Tuesday afternoon.

“I don’t know what’s going on.” Faith told NBC10. “I’m just scared and I hope they have a lead on something.”
Monteiro’s family started a GoFundMe to assist in finding her.
“Once she is located, the remaining donations will either go directly to Kylee to help her financially while she deals with this unimaginable trauma or for funeral arrangements if need be,” the GoFundMe states.
