These Colorado high schools rank as some of best in country: U.S. News & World Report

DENVER (KDVR) — Some high schools in Colorado are considered to have some of the best education in the country, based on a new report.

U.S. News & World Report released its annual list of the best high schools across the country. The media company ranked almost 18,000 public high schools out of more than 24,000 high schools nationwide.

The ranking was based on six factors: college readiness, state assessment proficiency, state assessment performance, underserved student performance, college curriculum breadth and graduation rate. Then, the schools earned an overall percentile out of 100.

In Colorado, hundreds of schools made the national list. Here are the top 10 schools in the state for 2025-2026:

The best school, coming as No. 1 in Colorado and in the top 100 nationwide, is D’Evelyn Junior/Senior High School. This high school is placed as one of the best schools with a 97% graduation rate and a 91 in college readiness, just shy of the top school in the nation.

The top high school for 2025-2026 is BASIS Tucson North in Tucson, Arizona, where it has a 100% graduation rate and 100 in college readiness. Signature School in Evansville, Indiana, Central Magnet School in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria, Virginia, had 100s across the board as well.
