Dodgers fans take to the streets to celebrate World Series title

Dodgers fans across Los Angeles celebrated the team’s 2024 World Series title after the Dodgers defeated the New York Yankees 7-6 in Game 5 Wednesday night.
This is the franchise’s 8th championship win.
KTLA 5 was live on the scene as fans took to the streets to celebrate. Sky5 captured footage of fireworks being ignited, fans parading through the streets with Dodger flags and buildings across L.A. lit up in Dodger Blue including L.A. City Hall, LAX, Crypto.com Arena, the Hollywood sign and more.

Sky5 captured some intersections being taken over by vehicles performing sideshows as crowds danced and cheered the motorists on.
“Tonight, we showed the world that Los Angeles is made of CHAMPIONS,” L.A. Mayor Karen Bass wrote on X. “Congratulations to the Dodgers on tonight’s win. Looking forward to seeing you back in LA!”
The city of Los Angeles is on tactical alert as dispersal orders were issued across the city.

Crowds were seen breaking windows and looting a sneaker store near Broadway and 6th Street. Some people were seen attempting to overtake an MTA bus. Police reported projectiles, rocks and bottles being thrown at officers near Olympic Boulevard and Grand Avenue.
Police formed a skirmish line at Olympic Boulevard and Figueroa Street in downtown L.A. after dispersal orders were issued for an unlawful assembly across several busy intersections in L.A. County.
“We know you want to celebrate the Dodgers World Series win, but please do not head to the Downtown LA area,” LAPD said Wednesday night. “There are many streets closed in the Downtown LA area and traffic will be heavily impacted. Please celebrate responsibly.”
“On behalf of our entire city, I want to express our pride and heartfelt congratulations to the Dodgers – to the players and their families, the coaches, the trainers, the front office, and everyone who had a hand in making history tonight. Every night, you exemplified the very best of our city and put greatness on display. The City is coordinating to ensure this Friday is a celebration fit for our championship team and our dedicated fans.”
