(FOX40.COM) — A father and son were arrested in Stanislaus County on Thursday after deputies found several neglected dogs, according to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office.
At 9:50 a.m., deputies visited a property in the 8500 block of Oak Street near Oakdale for a security and welfare check of an elderly man.
Inside, deputies found what they described as “deplorable conditions” with around 10 “severely” neglected dogs inside.
A mix of puppies and full-grown dogs was found with a lack of proper food or water. The remains of a dead dog were also found in the home.
Animal Control responded and rescued the malnourished animals that were all in need of urgent veterinarian care.
A concerning amount of toxic fumes emitting from the home also triggered a response for fire personnel.
The two men found inside the home were arrested and booked into the Sheriff’s Detention Center – West and are facing charges of animal cruelty.
