ORLANDO, Fla. – Nevada volleyball wrapped up their preseason competition with a tough 3-1 loss to UCF at The Venue. The Wolf Pack took the first set 25-15, but ultimately fell in the next three sets, losing 22-25, 23-25, and 19-25. The result drops Nevada’s record to 7-5 as they prepare to begin Mountain West Conference play.
The Pack started strong in the opening set, showcasing efficient attacking led by setter Tehya Maeva, who recorded 37 assists and three kills. Gabby McLaughlin was a key offensive contributor with 19 kills, while Carissa Chainey added 10. Both middles Bella Snyder with 8 kills and McKenna Dressel with 7 also played a pivotal role.
Nevada’s momentum slowed in the second set, where the score was tied 19-19 at one point. Despite a back-and-forth battle, UCF closed it out 25-22. Set three was similarly close, with Nevada trailing by just two points, but UCF edged them 25-23. In the fourth set, the Pack struggled to find a rhythm and UCF capitalized, winning 25-19 to secure the match.
Kinsley Singleton anchored Nevada’s defense with 19 digs, and McLaughlin added 14 digs of her own. The Pack tallied 8 total blocks in a solid defensive effort.
With the preseason complete, Nevada now shifts focus to Mountain West Conference play. The Pack will host Wyoming on Thursday in their first home conference match of the season.
