Henderson police are investigating a shooting that happened early Saturday morning on the 1100 block of Maple Street.
At approximately 1:40 a.m., officers responded to the scene and found 40-year-old Romids A. Miles with a gunshot wound.
They also found 38-year-old Sylvester Deon Burton with a gunshot wound to his leg.
Miles was taken to a medical facility, where he later died, while Burton was also taken to a nearby facility and is expected to recover.
The investigation revealed a prior fight between Miles and 33-year-old Darius Donzell Harris, which is believed to have led to the shooting.
Around 4:20 a.m., officers learned that Harris was receiving treatment at Granville Medical for injuries related to the incident.
After being released from the hospital, Harris was processed at the Henderson Police Department and charged with the murder of Miles.
He was then taken to the Magistrate’s Office, where he was denied bond and transported to the Vance County Detention Center pending his next court appearance.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Henderson-Vance Crime Stoppers at 252-492-1925.
