Attorney: Dead Person May Be Only One Who Knows What Happened To Asha Degree – WCCB Charlotte’s CW

CLEVELAND CO., N.C. – Yes, the police search of two homes in Shelby is connected to the case of Asha Degree. The little girl was nine-years-old when she disappeared 24 years ago. This week, there has been rampant speculation about the man who owns the homes and a connection to the little girl. “It needs to stop,” says attorney David Teddy. He called a news conference on Friday to address the rumors head on. He says, “There’s been no body found at 621 Cherryville Road, let alone seven bodies.” He continues, “There is a statement out there on social media that Roy Dedmon has confessed…that is false!”

Teddy has been hired by Roy Dedmon. He’s the man who owns the house on Cherryville Road and the one on Hawthorne Lane. Police questioned the 80-year-old at the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday. Teddy says, “He told law enforcement that he had no information about what happened to Asha. He wasn’t withholding any information about what happened to Asha.”

Teddy says he expects the search warrant executed at the Cherryville Road house to be made public next week. He says it’ll reveal a link in Asha Degree’s disappearance to a person who is now dead. “It’s very possible that that person who’s no longer here has the answer as to what happened to Asha. And the answer may very well never be known,” says Teddy.

Reporters asked Teddy about the green car that was towed from the Cherryville Road property. Teddy declined to comment on it.
