PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The man accused of killing nurse Melissa Jubane is expected to make his first appearance Monday in a Washington County court to face a murder charge.

Bryce Johnathan Schubert was arrested a few days after Jubane was reported missing when she didn’t arrive for her early morning shift at Providence St. Vincent. An “extensive investigation” over those days led authorities to arrest the 27-year-old.

Jubane’s remains were recovered as well, according to police.

Schubert was immediately described by investigators as a neighbor of Jubane, 32, who lived at an apartment complex on 1050 SW 160th Ave. in Beaverton.

Details of the reasons for the arrest have not yet been made public. Schubert is expected to be in court at 2 p.m. Monday.

A Providence spokesperson told KOIN 6 News Schubert had been “briefly employed” as a Providence Portland Medical Center nurse from September 2022 to October 2023. But officials also said he had not been employed at Providence St. Vincent.

KOIN 6 News will have more information later in the day.
