Human remains found in Stanislaus River Canyon

TUOLUMNE COUNTY, Calif. — Deputies are investigating whether human remains found in Stanislaus River Canyon could be connected to a pair of missing men.

The remains were called in around 7:15 p.m. on Aug. 29 by a dirt biker near Keltz Mine Road. Deputies responded and tried to hike into the area, but they had to turn back due to darkness and steep terrain.

Deputies were eventually able to confirm the remains were human and included bones, clothes and electronics. However, the sheriff’s office is still trying to identify the body.

The remains were found within three miles of a truck on Forest Road 3N11 on June 21, 2024. It was associated with missing persons Ronnie Henley and Ronnie Duncan.

Henley was reported missing to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office by his friend  on April 24. He was last seen at the end of March when he left in his truck with Duncan to go to a property he bought in Jupiter.

Deputies are investigating whether there are any connections between the missing people and the remains.
