Evacuation warnings prompted in Fairfield by Roberts Fire

A 15-acre vegetation fire is prompting evacuation warnings Sunday in Fairfield. See where:

FAIRFIELD, Calif. — A 15-acre vegetation fire is prompting evacuation warnings Sunday in Fairfield.

Around 2 p.m., the Roberts Fire is approximately 15 acres and burning at a moderate rate of spread, according to the Cal Fire Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit. FRF 1860 and FRF 1874 are under evacuation warnings.

The fire is between Highway 12 in the north and Interstate 80 in the south, just west of Cordelia. Forward progress was stopped around 2:20 p.m. Sunday.

The Fairfield Police Department issued evacuation warnings in zone FRF-1860 north of Antiquity Drive; south of Reservoir Lane; east of Terminal Reservoir; and west of Public Access Walking Trail (Dynasty and Abbey), according to the Solano County Office of Emergency Services.

Solano County OES also said an evacuation warning was issued in zone FRF-1874 north of Business Center Drive; south of Green Valley Creek; east of Pedestrian Path and Palladio Way; west of Green Valley Creek and Business Center Drive; and south of Healthcare Drive.


There are potential threats to life and property, the office said. Those who require additional time to evacuate, and those with pets and livestock are encouraged to leave immediately.

Around 1:30 p.m., firefighters employed an air attack, and structures were threatened at the head of the fire.

Wildfire Preps

If you live in a wildfire-prone zone, Cal Fire suggests creating a defensible space around your home. Defensible space is an area around a building in which vegetation and other debris are completely cleared. At least 100 feet is recommended.

The Department of Homeland Security suggests assembling an emergency kit that has important documents, N95 respirator masks, and supplies to grab with you if you’re forced to leave at a moment’s notice. The agency also suggests signing up for local warning system notifications and knowing your community’s evacuation plans best to prepare yourself and your family in cases of wildfires.
