Sunday Brunch: Bodega Sur in Lake View is sister restaurant to Tango Sur

In this week’s edition of Sunday Brunch on the WGN Weekend Morning News, Sean Lewis is joined by Bodega Sur owner Sergio Di Sapio and chef Albino Marroquin, who makes the restaurant’s signature omelette.

Is there a trick to making a good omelette?

“It’s just getting good ingredients and being patient,” Di Sapio says. “Low and slow. Not high heat.”

Bodega Sur, the sister restaurant to Tango Sur, opened in 2015 and is located in Lake View on Chicago’s North Side, at 3755 North Southport Avenue.

“We’re united. We’re part of the same family,” Di Sapio said.

Also to the Sunday Brunch set, Di Sapio and Marroquin brought grilled vegetable salad, homemade granola with fresh berries, a meat platter, French toast with dulce de leche, a trio of open-faced sandwiches and some of Bodega Sur’s drink options to wash it all down.

“It’s just a good brunch,” Di Sapio said.
