Apple picking season around Charlotte usually begins in late August and goes very quickly! Check out one of these apple picking farms drivable from Charlotte, and enjoy a fall day in the orchard.

Windy Hill Orchard & Cider Mill

Now open for the 2024 fall season

Windy Hill Orchard & Cider Mill grows Stayman Winesap apples. All pick-your-own requires a pre-purchased reservation. Check out the hard cider tastings, and don’t leave without an apple cider doughnut, an apple cider slush or fried apple pie.

Carrigan Farms

Apple picking begins September 3, 2024

The apple-picking season at Carrigan Farms is very short, so plan on visiting early. Each trip to the orchard includes a hayride to the petting zoo and orchard. Advance reservations are required.

Apple picking opening weekend is August 31, 2024. 

Perry Lowe Orchard offers about 30 varieties of u-pick apples. Advance reservations are required. While you’re there, shop for in-season produce, apple cider and a variety of dried apples. Kids can enjoy the Megaslide, apple cannon, jump pad, tractor playground and bee train.

Sky Top Orchard has been and family owned and operated farm since 1967. It has dozens of apple varieties available for u-pick, in addition to Asian pears and grapes. Kids can visit the barnyard animals and the playground, take the ‘bee train’, mine for gems, play the apple cannon, and see the cider press at work.

Stepp’s Hillcrest Orchard has 40 acres of apple orchards with 26 apple varieties. Check its website to reference the ripening schedule and plan your trip.
