(FOX40.COM) — Thousands of guests dressed elegantly in all white are expected to arrive at a secret location in Sacramento for a ‘chic picnic en masse,’ known as Le Diner en Blanc.

“It’s a unique cultural movement that empowers friends of friends to gather and celebrate their shared passions for life, food, fashion, and community,” Le Diner en Blanc said on its website.

On Oct. 5, guests are invited to a secret location to savor a meal with friends in one of Sacramento’s “most beautiful public spaces.” They bring their own tables, chairs, and picnic baskets for a night of food, dancing, and champagne. The location remains secret up until the very moment of arrival.

Le Diner en Blanc has toured in cities all over the United States such as New York City, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Dallas, Miami, Honolulu, Chicago, Memphis, and several others.

The night begins with ‘The Napkin Wave,’ a gesture done in unison, to signal that Le Diner is about to commence. It’s followed by music and entertainment, and ends with guests ‘lighting up the sky.’

“Le Diner en Blanc joins mystery, friendship, culture, and entertainment together to create a magical experience that is as visually stunning as it is indescribable,” reads the event website. “Over the course of the evening, guests from all backgrounds eat, dance, reconnect with the finer things in life, and make new traditions.”

It added, “everyone leaves with exquisite images and memories to last a lifetime, and the fabulous scene disappears as though it was all a dream.”
