Secrets of Balmoral Castle

This week, King Charles inspected the Balaklava Company, 5th Battalion of The Royal Regiment of Scotland and met members of the public as he officially arrived at Balmoral Castle, to take up residence for the Royal Family’s annual Summer Holiday.

Every summer for the past 170 years, the Royal Family have gone to Balmoral Castle and the 50,000 acre Balmoral Estate in Scotland, where they enjoy a traditional lifestyle of hunting, fishing and shooting. This documentary looks at the history of the most private of the Royal Family’s residences and how they live their life away from the public eye.

The King inspected the Balaklava Company, 5th Battalion of The Royal Regiment of Scotland, at the gates of Balmoral Castle, meeting the Regiment mascot Shetland pony, Corporal Cruachan IV.

King Charles met members of the public after the inspection of  The Royal Regiment of Scotland, as he takes up Summer Residence at the Castle.

The King and Queen Camilla have been staying on the nearby Birkhall Estate for the past few weeks, and attended the the Sunday Service at Crathie Kirk near Balmoral yesterday.
