Arrest made after illegal injections led to person’s death in Citrus Heights

The Citrus Heights Police Department made an arrest more than a decade after illegal injections led to fatal complications. Detectives arrested 49-year-old Alejandra Aguilera-Ortega at an apartment complex on Monday for the 2013 death of Diego Lopez.The police department said Aguilera-Ortega, who was unlicensed, provided Lopez with illegal silicone injections into the buttocks. The Citrus Heights Police Department made an arrest more than a decade after illegal injections led to fatal complications.

Detectives arrested 49-year-old Alejandra Aguilera-Ortega at an apartment complex on Monday for the 2013 death of Diego Lopez.

The police department said Aguilera-Ortega, who was unlicensed, provided Lopez with illegal silicone injections into the buttocks.

Officials said Aguilera-Ortega fled to Mexico, but recently returned to Citrus Heights.

Aguilera-Ortega was arrested for murder and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail, where they are ineligible for bail.

Aguilera-Ortega is set to appear in court on Wednesday.
