Public invited to see SacRT low-floor light rail trains before launch next month

(FOX40.COM) — Sacramento Regional Transit (SacRT) is inviting the public to preview the new low-floor light rail train cars before they launch next month on the Gold and Green lines.
SacRT said it will host nine “pop-up” events over the next two weeks to allow riders to learn about the new vehicles before they go into service on September 1.
Employees with the city’s transit department will be in attendance to answer questions.
The new train cars are easier to board for all passengers, have larger windows, and a different layout of seats, and are replacing the current train cars, some of which have been in service since the 80s.
Here are the dates for the preview events:
- Sunrise Station
Tuesday, August 20, 3:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. - Mather Field/Mills Station
Wednesday, August 21, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. - 16th Street Station
Thursday, August 22, 6:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. - 13th Street Station
Friday, August 23, 3:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. - University/65th Street Station
Monday, August 26, 6:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. - 39th Street/UC Davis Health Station
Tuesday, August 27, 3:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. - Sacramento Valley Station
Wednesday, August 28, 3:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. - Iron Point Station
Thursday, August 29, 6:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. - Archives Plaza Station
Thursday, August 29, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
SacRT will also host an event on September 3 at the 7th & Richards/Township 9 Station to celebrate the launch of the cars.
