Man drowns at Folsom Lake State Recreation Area, wasn't wearing life jacket, officials say

(FOX40.COM) — A 37-year-old man died Saturday evening after drowning at the Folsom Lake State Recreation Area, according to California State Parks officials.

Officials said the incident occurred around 7:15 p.m. in the area of the Granite Bay boat ramp.

“State Parks dive team and lifeguards entered the water and located the victim within about 18 minutes of receiving the call,” California State Parks officials said.

South Placer Fire medics attempted lifesaving efforts, but the man was declared dead at the scene.

“The victim had been swimming and was not wearing a personal flotation device. State Parks expresses its condolences to the family and friends of this individual,” California State Parks said in a statement.
