SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, alongside his attorney Joseph Cotchett, publicly responded Saturday outside John’s Grill in San Francisco to ongoing rumors concerning his alleged involvement in a helicopter ride with Donald Trump.

Brown firmly denied the claims, which gained attention after Trump suggested Brown was involved in a near-death experience with him. “There’s always a possibility that somehow Trump has to rectify what he did,” Brown said, hinting at legal action.

He emphasized that the allegations are particularly concerning because they aim to undermine Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential bid. “I really want Kamala Harris to go unfettered towards the presidency,” he stated, stressing that his focus is on ensuring Harris can move forward without unnecessary distractions.

Brown clarified that he met Trump in the mid-1990s, but any suggestion that they were together on a helicopter is false. “It would be bad for my reputation, period, if I was on a chopper with Trump. That’s a bad place to be, particularly with a guy who’s been convicted 34 times,” Brown remarked, highlighting the absurdity of the claims. “No one knows why he chose a helicopter—it was the most unexpected place to put me,” Brown said, admitting his unease with helicopters.

Joseph Cotchett, who has been a close advisor to Brown for years, reiterated that Brown is not the litigious type but is being forced to consider his options because of Trump’s persistent behavior. “He’s a reputable guy who’s never brought a lawsuit in his life, but you know who’s pushing him to do it? A guy named Trump,” Cotchett said, underscoring their frustration with the ongoing narrative.

Brown also took aim at the underlying intent of Trump’s claims, pointing out that any attempt to link him with negative stories is ultimately an attack on Harris’s credibility. “Her name should not be linked to anything negative, especially by Trump,” he insisted.

When asked whether he wanted an apology from Trump, Brown dismissed the idea. “No, I don’t want his apology. I don’t want him to mention my name. He needs to apologize to Nate Holden; that’s who his passenger was,” he said, further distancing himself from the controversy.

Cotchett concluded by making it clear that while there is no current lawsuit, the goal is simple: “Mr. Brown is not gonna file a lawsuit. He wants him to stop. S-T-O-P. Stop the nonsense. Let’s move on.”
