Breaking down the Charlotte Hornets 2024-25 schedule – At The Hive

[ad_1]

The NBA released the full schedule for the 2024-25 season as unceremoniously as they do. You can view the full schedule of the Charlotte Hornets here.

The Hornets open the season on Wednesday October 23 on the road against the Houston Rockets. The home opener is that Saturday, the 26th, against the Miami Heat. The Hornets have four In-Season Tournament group stage games in November and early December:

  • Tuesday, November 12 – at Orlando Magic
  • Tuesday, November 19 – at Brooklyn Nets
  • Friday, November 29 – vs New York Knicks (noon tip off time)
  • Tuesday, December 3 – vs Philadelphia 76ers

The Hornets caught a bit of a break in the scheduling of their group games. Their two toughest opponents on paper are both home games, while they get the easier two opponents on the road. That’s a favorable draw.

Some other notes and highlights from the schedule:

  • The Hornets only have one primetime game. It’s on ESPN on January 17 against the Bulls just in case both the Ball brothers are actually healthy.
  • Two significant west coast road trips happen in early January and late February. The latter comes straight out of the all star break, which is probably about as ideal as it could be.
  • The Hornets have three straight road games going into the all star break, meaning they technically play eight straight road games around the all star break.
  • The Hornets play nine straight home games between January 24 and February 7.
  • The Hornets play their four games against the Celtics in two pairs. They host Boston on back to back nights to start November. And they finish the season with back to back games in Boston. Depending on how the season goes, that can either be a blessing or a curse.
  • The Hornets play 11 of their last 18 games on the road.
  • The Hornets get three full days off for New Years between December 30 and January 3.

All in all, not much you can take away from the schedule. There’s nothing extraordinary that will have a major impact on the Hornets season.

Any games you’re looking forward to? What do you have marked on the calendar?
