DENVER (KDVR) — Fire crews began responding Tuesday night to a new fire that started near the Quarry Fire in Jefferson County.
A FOX31 crew spotted the fire around 8:40 p.m. West Metro Fire Rescue soon posted that the grass fire was along Valley Road in Ken Caryl Valley and said no structures were threatened.
A resident reported seeing sparks on the hill, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office told FOX31’s Gabby Easterwood.
West Metro Fire later said the fire of about 1-2 acres was caused by lightning. Crews were working on containment and mop-up as of around 10 p.m. and were expected to remain in the area for “the next couple of hours.”
