Major injuries for 3 people following Highway 50 crash in Sacramento County, officials say

(FOX40.COM) — Three people were taken to the hospital with major injuries on Sunday evening after a single-vehicle crash on Highway 50, Metro Fire said on X.

Just before 8 p.m., the agency said its crews arrived to the crash at an embankment off the right-hand shoulder on Highway 50, east of Watt Avenue.

“Extrication was required to remove the trapped patients,” Metro Fire said, adding that the investigation has been handed over to the California Highway Patrol.

Images posted to social media by Metro Fire show a purple SUV down the embankment with extreme damage to the the entire vehicle, including a completely shattered windshield and a removed bumper.
