(FOX40.COM) — An alleged Target thief who walked out of a Sacramento store with a suitcase full of stolen merchandise decided to throw away the citation after being busted, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
On Aug. 1, deputies said they responded to Target after its loss prevention team reported a “transient subject filling an entire luggage full of merchandise and walking out of the store without paying.” SCSO said it located the suspect “down the street” and in possession of the items.
“Under the current theft laws, the subject was issued a citation and released because the merchandise cost $661 and did not meet the $950 threshold for a felony,” SCSO said. “The subject, having no regard for the citation, crumpled the citation up in front of deputies.”
Deputies said all of the stolen merchandise was recovered and returned to Target.
