DENVER (KDVR) — Denver hit 99 degrees Sunday afternoon, breaking the previous daily record of 98 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
Denver has hit 98 degrees on Aug. 4 three times: In 2022, 1981 and 1979.
This is not the first heat record that has been broken in 2024.
Most recently, Denver hit 101 degrees on July 14, smashing a record set in 1878 when the State of Colorado was just under two years old.
Two days earlier on July 12, Denver broke a 50-year-old daily record when it hit 102 degrees.
A few scorching days have tied the existing records, including July 29 and June 12 when the city hit 99 degrees and 97 degrees respectively.
