3 dead, 1 injured after fire breaks out at condo in SW Houston, HFD says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — At least three people are dead, and one person was injured after an apartment fire early Sunday morning in southwest Houston, according to the Houston Fire Department.

HFD posted on the platform X, formerly known as Twitter, that firefighters responded to a report of a fire around 5:45 a.m. at a condominium on 8110 Albacore near Bissonnet Street.

Officials said a it is believed that person passing by noticed the flames and called police.

Firefighters said they responded within four minutes and were able to contain the fire to one unit.

Houston’s newly appointed fire chief, Thomas Muñoz, and officials provided an update on the fire and said it is an active investigation still in the preliminary stages.

Officials said the victims are believed to be all juveniles.

One person, identified as a 21-year-old, was able to escape and reportedly tried to go back in, according to HFD. The victim was transported with smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.
