Dozens of Lone Star State athletes are competing in the Summer Games. Here’s who they are.

SAN ANTONIO — The Lone Star State representation will be strong in the City of Light when the 2024 Paris Olympics get underway Friday. Of the roughly 600 athletes competing for Team USA, more than 60 have Texas ties.

That means that if Team USA lives up to its formidable history of performance at the Summer Olympics – the U.S. boasts an overall count of  2,975 medals, according to CBS News, more than two and a half times as many as the runner-up, the Soviet Union – Texas athletes will likely be a major reason why.

Some of those athletes are giants in the world of American sports, including gymnast Simone Biles, WNBA player Brittney Griner and two-time Masters champion Scottie Scheffler. But dozens of other competitors are also hoping to grab the gold in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower in the 2024 Games—including a few Alamo City natives.

Read on below for our guide on 2024 Olympics athletes who were born in Texas and/or now call it home.
