Man dies in back of Sacramento police car, avoid area

(FOX40.COM) — A man is dead after he was arrested and placed into the back of a police car in Del Paso Heights on Monday, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

Around 4:30 p.m., SPD responded to Jasmine Street after the family of the man requested a welfare check. Upon arrival, police said the man was armed with a knife. He was subsequently arrested and placed into the back of a patrol car where he was later found dead, according to SPD. Details of what led to his death are not clear.

As of 9:45 p.m., the area remains blocked off and a heavy police presence is at the scene.
