Weather Aware: Hot and humid Wednesday but a (slight) cooldown is on the way

[ad_1]

The WCNC Weather Impact Team is asking people to stay Weather Aware on Wednesday.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Wednesday, July 10, will be another scorching day in the Carolinas with extremely hot and humid conditions expected in the afternoon.

It will be unbearably humid with temperatures in the mid-to-upper 90s and a heat index making it feel well over 100 degrees.

The WCNC Weather Impact Team wants the Charlotte area to stay Weather Aware on Wednesday due to the high heat that will make it dangerous to be outdoors for extended periods.

Forecast

Dew points will be in the 70s on Wednesday. That means it will be extremely humid. This is the muggiest air we’ve seen all year so far. The temperature won’t be quite as high as it was over the Fourth of July weekend, but that “air you can wear” will be palpable. Tuesday was also a Weather Impact Aware Day, as the peak heat index hovered around 105 degrees, shifting Charlotte into the dangerous range.

When

The peak heat will hit from 11 a.m. through 8 p.m. Wednesday. WCNC Weather Impact Chief Meteorologist Brad Panovich said there are chances for scattered storms all week, so keep a close eye on the forecast as those storms develop.
