Travelport has joined the Travalyst sustainable travel coalition, with plans to implement the organization’s methodology for reporting travel emissions.

Founded by Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, Travalyst states its goal as “delivering universal transparent reporting” for emissions and sustainability so that corporate travel programs, travel sellers and travelers themselves can choose the most sustainable trip options. Travelport said it would take an active role in driving those standards and is building capabilities into the Travelport Plus platform so that travel management companies and agencies using the platform can better select the most eco-friendly options. Sustainability shopping and reporting features are slated for roll out sometime in 2023, according to Travelport.

Travalyst CEO Sally Davey said Travelport’s participation “will bring invaluable knowledge and expertise in helping us drive mass adoption of sustainability standards with its integral role connecting agencies and suppliers.”

Founding members of Travalyst include Booking.com, Skyscanner, Trip.com Group, Tripadvisor and Visa. Both Google and Expedia Group also have since joined the coalition.
