Greater New York Jewish community to celebrate Jewish pride with Grand Parade and Mega Lag BaOmer event this Sunday – QNS

This Sunday, May 26, the Greater New York Jewish community will gather for a grand parade and street fair to celebrate Jewish Pride and solidarity with Israel.

Queens residents are encouraged to join the Great Parade and align with the Chabad of Northeast Queens contingent. The parade is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. at the Chabad Lubavitch World Headquarters at 770 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights.

Concurrent with the celebration is the largest Mega Lag BaOmer event in Queens. This year’s theme, “Marching United with Eretz Yisroel,” aims to strengthen ties with brothers and sisters in the Land of Israel through a spirited display of unity and connection.

Lag BaOmer, typically celebrated in spring, commemorates the legacy of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, a seminal figure in Jewish mysticism who first taught Kabbalah and authored the Zohar. The holiday honors his enduring impact on Jewish spiritual life.

The festivities in Queens will be held at Cunningham Park, located at 196-10 Union Tpke. in Fresh Meadows. Scheduled from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., following the success of last year’s “Light Up the Night” series, which drew over 4,000 attendees.

Highlights include a bonfire, live music and a carnival with rides. Families can look forward to the “Extreme Magic Show” by Eric Wilzig, known for his performances with the New York Knicks and Rangers and his appearance on “America’s Got Talent.” Live music and prize giveaways, such as Apple AirPods Pro, an iPad, and Meta VR Glasses, will add to the excitement.
