1-800-TruckWreck selects 2024 Making a Difference scholarship recipients

1-800-TruckWreck, powered by Witherite Law Group, is committed to giving back to the community of Atlanta and thus has selected the 2024 “Making a Difference” Scholarship recipients.
The award presentation took place on May 14 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at South Atlanta High School. This year, 64 graduating seniors, up from 40 in 2023, will each be awarded a $2,500 scholarship, making a total of $160,000 in scholarship funds awarded by 1-800-TruckWreck.
Additionally, if students maintain a 2.0 GPA and take at least 12 credit hours, their “Making a Difference” scholarships are renewable annually.
Created in 2016 by Amy Witherite, founder of Witherite Law Group and 1-800-TruckWreck, the “Making a Difference” Scholarship provides financial assistance to students who have demonstrated leadership in their schools and communities.
“The reality is that students from affluent families have more resources and flexibility when it comes to college selection and financing. Lower income students feel more financial strain and are more likely to delay or forgo college altogether,” Amy Witherite, founder of Witherite Law Group and 1-800-TruckWreck said. “Given this, it’s not by chance that we’ve significantly increased the number of scholarships year over year. We understand the need and economic pressures our students face, and we want to offset that to give them an opportunity to pursue their dreams and a better life for themselves.”
Witherite also said giving back to students has always been important to the Witherite Law Group.
“Education is generational change and when you invest in kids, they make huge differences in their immediate family and communities when they come back,” she said. “We decided as a law firm and as a community partner, this is important and we’re going to dedicate ourselves to this every year.
Graduating Senior, Zachary Davis said he feels amazing and grateful for receiving the Making A Difference scholarship.
“It feels amazing because for one not many people in our community even get scholarships or have the opportunity to further their education for post-secondary careers,” he said.
With the scholarship, Davis said he will be able to pay for books, possibly tuition, and any fees that may arise.
To further assist, 1-800-TruckWreck partnered with Walmart Market 19 of South Atlanta to host a pop-up shop for graduating seniors who had applied for the law firm’s “Making a Difference” Scholarship.
The shop provided students with proper attire for upcoming college tours and interviews, including the “Making a Difference” Scholarship interview.
