CHICAGO (WLS) — A teen boy was stabbed in downtown Chicago on Sunday in board daylight. He was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

The stabbing happened around 4:39 p.m. near North Dearborn Street and West Lake Street. Chicago police are looking for at least four people involved.

The 15-year-old victim was on the sidewalk at the location when four male offenders approached him, police said. Two of the offenders stabbed the boy in the back with knives.

CFD said the boy was initially transported to Lurie Children’s Hospital in critical condition. Chicago police later said his condition had stabilized.

Police scanner radio reveals the initial response to the stabbing.

“There is a knife on the ground,” an officer said over the radio. “Several of the males are wearing white t-shirts and blue jeans.”

Security cameras at ABC7’s State Street Studio showed a group of people running away moments after the attack. Police did not immediately officially confirm they were the same group as the suspects in the stabbing.

“From State and Lake, they ran westbound on Lake Street,” an officer said over the radio.

A knife could be seen laying at the scene as officers processed evidence right across the street from the Goodman Theater.

Authorities did not immediately provide further information about the stabbing.

No one was in custody. Police continue to investigate.
