Durham police were investigating at two different scenes within a 3-minute drive of one another on Saturday afternoon.

The first scene was in a Home Depot parking lot at the intersection of Mt. Moriah Road and McFarland Drive, not far from 15-501.

Durham police were investigating in a Home Depot parking lot, where there appeared to be blood on the pavement, on Saturday morning.

EMS was also on the scene, as well as several police officers. Yellow police tape could be seen surrounding parts of the lot.

One vehicle appeared to have a pool of blood underneath it.

Police were also investigating at another location, less than a 3-minute drive away from the other scene. Just around the corner in the 3300 block of SW Durham Drive, police had a vehicle surrounded by yellow police tape parked in a turning lane, with blood on the ground beside the passenger side.

It is not yet clear whether or not these two scenes are connected, but they are very close to one another.

One witness told WRAL News she was inside Home Depot when she heard the commotion outside.

“Police were already there,” she said. “A lady was walking towards us and we asked what happened, and she said a man in a red van had been shot and they just took him away in the ambulance. There were shoes tossed by the red van and blood on the ground.”

WRAL News is working to learn more about what happened at this scene.
