WASHINGTON — WASHINGTON – The Metropolitan Police Department responded Saturday night – around 10:46 p.m. – to a call at the intersection of 15th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW for reports of a vehicle crash close to the White House complex.

The vehicle crashed into a security barrier, Police said. While the incident is still being investigated, Police reported one adult male was declared dead. 

Anthony Guglielmi, Chief of Communications for the United States Secret Service, released a statement on his X account, formerly Twitter, saying “there was no threat to the White House.”

“Shortly before 10:30pm on May 4th, a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed collided with an outer perimeter gate on the White House complex. Security protocols were implemented as officers cleared the vehicle and attempted to render aid to the driver who was discovered deceased. The was no threat to the White House. The fatal crash portion of this will be turned over to the Washington Metropolitan Department Crash Investigation Unit and the Secret Service investigation continues.”

The identity of the deceased man has not been revealed yet, nor has the motive that led to the crash.
