Trespasser shot, killed after encounter with homeowner in Moore County, officials say

A homeowner reportedly shot and killed a man who was on his property in Moore County on Friday night.

The Moore County Sheriff’s Office said they were called to reports of trespassing around 8:15 p.m. on Dowd Road near Carthage.

When they arrived, they found a man dead after an encounter with the property owner.

An investigation is now underway.
